Gundam Wing

(REPOST) E02 – Gundam Wing Part 1

[NOTE: This is a re-upload of a previously posted episode, with correctly calibrated audio. ReBoot Part 5 will be up June 28, 15:00 PST as per the usual release schedule]

In this episode, Michael and Peter embark on the first leg of their 5-part odyssey of rewatching Gundam Wing.

ReBoot

E28 – ReBoot Part 4

ReBoot takes entirely too long to show that Bob is back, the final showdown with Megabyte takes place, Hex gets a new mask, and the show hits the reset button.

Meanwhile, Michael continuously harps on the absurdity of removing two characters from an ensemble cast and expecting them to carry the show by themselves, Peter accidentally theorizes some probable creepy ReBoot fanfiction, and both lament the loss of Megabyte.

Also included: pregnant binomes, faster than light travel in Warhammer 40k, and a musical retelling of the plot of ReBoot.

Next week: ReBoot season 4

The World's Strongest

(REPOST) E01 – Dragon Ball Z: The World’s Strongest

[NOTE: This is a re-upload of a previously posted episode, with correctly calibrated audio.  ReBoot Part 4 will be up June 21, 15:00 PST as per the usual release schedule]

In our first episode, Michael and Peter discuss the Dragon Ball Z movie The World’s Strongest, and consistently drop the “The” from the title.

ReBoot

E27 – ReBoot Part 3

Enzo becomes a badass, the Guardians turn evil, and Frisket is… pretty much the same as always. It’s ReBoot season 3!

Meanwhile, Michael compares grown up Enzo (matrix)’s character design to Lobo and defines the Yuli-Grayson scale of kid sidekick irritation, Peter rants about an episode featuring a graveyard of badly-designed superhero characters, and both theorize on why the post-timeskip episodes miss the mark.

Also included: talking once again about Burger King Kid’s Club, horrifying driver’s ed videos, and Jason Voorhees and the Argonauts.

Next episode: ReBoot season 3, episodes 9-16

ReBoot

E26 – ReBoot Part 2

Nothing like a season-ending cliffhanger to cancel a series on.

ReBoot’s sudden leap in quality makes Michael wonder if there’s a sort of Stockholm Syndrome attached to watching some of these shows, Peter questions what a zoot suit is, and both hosts struggle to come up with synonyms for “creepy.”

Also included: reminiscing about a failed Deep Space 9 podcast, Enzo reveals his tragic backstory, and comparing the Megabyte truck from “Bad Bob” to Maximum Overdrive.

Next week: ReBoot season 3, episodes 1-8

E23 – Dragon Ball Z Part 5

The Ginyu Force finally lands, and even Frieza doesn’t know what to make of them.

Meanwhile, Michael and Peter discuss the impact of filler and censorship on Dragon Ball Z.  Peter makes a comparison between Bulma’s miscategorization of a Frieza soldier and a bizarre scene from a bizarre porn, and Michael admits that Dragon Ball Z is a pretty silly show.

Also included: a discussion of Spider-Man Cartoon Maker, Senzu Bean hummus, and the difficulty of finding anything on Namek.

Next week: Jonny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects

E21 – Dragon Ball Z Part 3

Goku finally arrives to fight Nappa and Vegeta, and we’re treated to the first Dragon Ball Z fight that feels like it needs to last multiple episodes.

Peter and Michael theorize on why the final episodes of this block feature Namek Dragon Balls the size of Earth Dragon Balls, while Michael explains what hooked him about Dragon Ball Z in the first place, and Peter breaks down the “We’re Back 2: We’re Back We’re Back” reference for the first time (hopefully).  Also featured: a bad Moltar impression, random musing on past series we’ve watched, and a change to how we place our bets.

Next week: Dragon Ball Z episodes 31-40

E20 – Dragon Ball Z Part 2

In the second batch of Dragon Ball Z episodes, Michael and Peter find themselves forced to contend with Nappa getting blown up only to be totally unharmed, time and time again.  It gets a little exhausting.

Meanwhile, Michael makes an unfortunate comparison between Nappa’s “LASER EYES!” and Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon, Peter boasts about winning seemingly every over-under bet, and both hosts discuss the chilling connection between The Secret World of Alex Mack and Capri Sun commercials from around the same time.

Next week: Dragon Ball Z episodes 21-30

E19 – Dragon Ball Z Part 1

Dragon, dragon, rock the dragon, Dragon Ball Z!

Taking the first steps towards reviewing the entirety of Dragon Ball Z, we find that it’s mostly filler, but not the kind we remembered.  Meanwhile, Michael raises old gripes about Dragon Ball Z action figures, and Peter finds some of Piccolo’s tough guy talk to be poorly chosen.

E18 – Tenchi Muyo!

What do you get when you put a demon, a princess, her younger sister, a space-cop, and a mad scientist under one roof?  Apparently, they all fall in love with a relatively lame teenager.

On this episode, both hosts discuss some awkward pre-teen memories, Michael makes a comparison to Bayonetta that falls flat, and Peter gushes about the mechanical design in the show.

Oh, there’s also a bit of discussion about a cat/rabbit hybrid that can turn into a spaceship, and the awkwardness of watching anime in your living room.
