E84 – Dragon Ball Z Part 12



The androids are unleashed, and they’re too powerful for even Vegeta to handle. Fortunately, they mostly seem interested in taking a road trip.

Dr. Gero’s creations wreak havoc on the roadways, with a little help from Vegeta. Meanwhile, Michael hopes that the relationship between Chi-Chi and Krillin is strained at best, Peter celebrates the departure of Marin, and both hosts dissect a particularly dire episode.

Also included: a consideration of the standards of old TV writing, the convenience of Dragon Ball Z, android road trip.

MS27 – Dragon Ball Super: Broly



GO, BROLY, BROLY, GO!

In the first Dragon Ball movie under the “Super” subheading, Akira Toriyama gives the fans what they want: the canonization of Broly, everybody’s favorite super saiyan, and a nearly hour-long fight sequence. What’s not to love?

Frieza’s BACK, and Michael’s childhood dreams are shattered once again.

The Z Fighters are saved by a mysterious stranger who has ill tidings of the future. Meanwhile, Michael isn’t a fan of Trunks’ voice, Peter cites an important study, and both hosts are pleasantly surprised by the plot of this block.

The sequel to Robotech was as ill-fated as bridge crew of the SDF Macross…

Jack’s journey continues, before taking a long, long hiatus.

Some of Jack’s adversaries themselves have noble intentions, but that doesn’t matter much to the eponymous samurai. Meanwhile, Michael compares Jack to Batman, Peter is irritated by a baby, and both hosts agree on a recommendation.

This week, we watch the incredibly gory, post-apocalyptic crazyfest that is Fist of the North Star (the movie). And Streamline Pictures distributed it, so the voice acting adds to the film’s overall cheesy charm.
