E103 – Sailor Moon S: The Movie



A man saves a cat. Just like that screenwriting guide, but with some unexpected results.

An extraterrestrial object carries another villain towards Earth, and the Sailor Scouts are the only ones who can stop it. Meanwhile, Michael tries to justify having any regard for this movie, Peter laments the screeching voices of the villain’s minions, and both hosts conclude that the magic of Sailor Moon may be waning.

Also included: a terrifying forecast, Tuxedo Mask’s laziest entrance lines, the contractual obligations of unimportant Sailor Scouts.

E100 – AKIRA



Only one of the most well-known anime ever.

A pair of childhood friends take radically different paths through the disintegrating society of Neo Tokyo. Meanwhile, Michael reveals some deep thoughts on anime, Peter gushes about, well, everything, and both hosts consider reading the manga on which this masterpiece was based.

Also included: a brief history of Power Rangers in Space, the serious impact of Ronin Warriors, and theorizing about the message of this movie.

E97 – The Iron Giant



The tearjerking adventures of a small boy and a big robot.

A giant robot lands in the wilderness of Maine, befriends a young boy, and finds itself on the wrong side of the US Government. Meanwhile, Michael recollects a childhood memory, Peter praises Kent Mansley’s paranoid characterization, and both hosts are mildly surprised at the voice acting chops of Vin Diesel.

Also included: uncovering the sinister connection between the Iron Giant and Dark Gundam, why does the concept of Hell exist in Star Wars?

Joes fight Cobra, Cobra retreats, etc. Meanwhile, Michael takes issue with Serpentor, Peter chuckles at some animation errors, and both hosts theorize on why this show made it to Toonami’s Midnight Run lineup.

The world is flooded, half-human hybrids are trying to annihilate the last of humanity, and the mad scientist behind it all just wants everyone to get along.

And, of course, every battle is rendered in amazing turn of the century CGI. Meanwhile, Peter confuses the name of the mini-subs, Michael compares elements to G-Saviour, and both hosts try to determine exactly what Verg is actually saying.

E77 – Pokemon Grab Bag



In the grips of Pokemania, can we regain enough sanity to talk about this show?

Ash Ketchum starts his big adventure, and boy is it hard to sit through. Meanwhile, Michael brings up the consciousness of Pokemon and related ethics, Peter cringes at childhood memories, and both hosts realize they now have to watch the shows on the Kids’ WB Toonami block.

Also included: Schrodinger’s Meowth, Gastly making bucks, Lifeless Pikachus.

Samurai Jack Part 1 will release on November 7th.


E74 – Sailor Moon R: The Movie



When trouble takes root, the Sailor Scouts are there to weed it out (and other plant puns)!

A mysterious figure from Darien’s past arrives on earth to repay an old debt, and things quickly spiral out of control. Meanwhile, Peter compares Sailor Moon to a changing of the seasons, Michael defines “Sidestory Syndrome”, and both hosts argue over whether Sailor Moon is meant to have died in the end.
