E139 – Ɐ Gundam Conclusion



Boy, you thought nukes were bad…

The Terrans finally make their way to the Moon, and find themselves entangled in the Moon’s internal strife. Meanwhile, Michael praises one last philosophical argument while fighting, Peter discusses a huge twist, and both hosts gush over the epilogue.

Let this be a lesson not to get absolutely wasted in outer space.

The Willgame reaches space, and Loran stores something much more dangerous than a cow in the Gundam’s chest. Meanwhile, Michael tries to explain the charm of the show’s characters, Peter appreciates the Adeskan arc, and both hosts discuss an episode featuring a midnight sunrise.

Also included: the antics of people with an early 20th century understanding of the world… in space!

Hey! Aren’t those Zakus?

With Dianna and Kihel pulling a Freaky Friday, the political situation gets even more tense. Meanwhile, Michael praises the animation, Peter likes the on-the-ground perspective of civilians caught up in the war, and both hosts discuss Teteth Halleh and her abrupt departure.

A boy is sent to earth, and humanity once again throws itself into a self-destructive war for territory and technology. Meanwhile, Michael appreciates the political angle of the show, Peter warms to the mustached Gundam, and both hosts discuss the cost of war beyond the loss of life.

E135 – Dragon Ball Part 2

Welcome to the World Martial Arts Tournament, where the best fighters in the world line up to get clobbered by Goku.

Goku meets his future best friend Krillin, and gets trained by the venerable, morally dubious Master Roshi. Meanwhile, Michael actually enjoys an episode, Peter talks about the funniest moment in the show, and both hosts continue to cringe at the show’s questionable subject matter for “jokes”.

Also included: multiple Simpsons references, the occasional hilarity of Dragon Ball, the best character Toriyama forgot

E134 – Dragon Ball Part 1



CONTENT NOTICE: Unfortunately, Dragon Ball has a LOT of humor based on sexual harassment and assault (we are NOT fans, for the record), so please proceed with caution.

An indestructible monkey boy and a vain teenage genius set out on a quest to find the seven magic Dragon Balls that can grant any wish.

For all the trouble they go through, these characters have some pretty basic wishes. Meanwhile, Michael is forced to reckon with his childhood in an uncomfortable way, Peter tries to find the silver lining, and both hosts struggle to explain the events of the show without sounding like total creeps.

Also included: “henchmens”, stanning for the Pilaf gang, Dragon Ball’s loose continuity

E132 – Record of Lodoss War Conclusion



A Cursed Island no longer, just a cursed show.

Spark’s journey reaches its conclusion, while our attention is constantly diverted to other characters reacting to the things Spark is actually dealing with. Meanwhile, Michael rants about the robotic interactions between the characters, Peter finds another in the few shows he unequivocally dislikes, and both hosts breathe a sigh of relief that it’s finally over.

Also included: animatronic flirting, overprotective dad villains, Star Wars: A New Hope as the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi

E131 – Record of Lodoss War



Prepare to enter a world of myth and legend, and you will be hearing about them, whether you want to or not.

Parn, the free knight, embarks on a number of adventures on the island of Lodoss. Meanwhile, Michael is bothered by strange adaptational choices, Peter encounters a dub that reminds him why he doesn’t watch dubbed anime, and both hosts are baffled by a deluge of flashbacks.

Also included: Reactor revisited, the strange origins of Record of Lodoss War, the problems with adapting roleplaying games into TV shows

E130 – Outlaw Star Conclusion



Suzuka fights her arch-nemesis: a man we never met until the fight began.

Gene and his crew finally discover the location of the Galactic Leyline. But first: some wacky adventures! Meanwhile, Michael rants about the pointless nature of the Hot Springs episode, Peter compares the climax to a last-minute book report, and both hosts praise the visuals one final time.

Also included: the fate of the MacDougall Brothers, rediscovering your inner 8-year-old, a very odd missed opportunity

E129 – Outlaw Star Part 1



[Insert stoner-philosophy diatribe about growing up, space, or just a random character’s backstory here]

Gene Starwind sets off into space to find his fortune, if only he could make enough money to get his ship off the ground. Meanwhile, Michael manages to appreciate how silly spaceships with swords are, Peter points out the show’s overall horniness, and both hosts praise the visuals, if not necessarily the plot or characters.

Also included: recasting with characters from a very different franchise, spaceships with guns vs. mechs with guns, the shadow of Homer Simpson
